Violin Lessons With Shannon
VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR AND PERFORMER
Shannon has had a passion for music since as early as she can remember. She founded and directed the Suffolk Chamber Orchestra which performed in weddings, graduations, and outreach community venues which started her love for performing and teaching.
In 2006 Shannon was given the opportunity to tour as the violin soloist performer in the LIYO Asia orchestra tour where she performed in famous music halls such as the Hanoi Opera House in cities all over China, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia. She also loves performing in theatre and opera. She performed in Faust which ranked in the top three opera productions in the nation by the National Opera Association. She also enjoyed performing with the Metropolitan Opera’s Opera in a Nutshell performance of La Boheme and Tosca at the Metropoitan Opera House. The highlight of her performing career was playing in Avery Fischer Hall, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Shannon has ten years of teaching experience. She decided to pursue studies in violin teaching methods and graduated with her degree in String Pedagogy-Violin Principle at Bob Jones University. She taught the High School/Middle School music prep students at the college and also taught at the Bob Jones Elementary School. Her students have ranked in the top 3 in their school's music competition and 1st chair in orchestra.
When Shannon moved back to NY, she joined the Starling-Delay Symposium at the Julliard School where she attended master classes by great pedagogues and performers such as Itzhak Perlman and Ani Kavafian. She enjoyed performing with the Brooklyn Conservatory Orchestra as she continued teaching her own private students as well as teaching for the Music Institute of New York. Shannon now resides in Greenville, SC and hopes to share everything she has learned in her musical journey with her students here in hopes that they will share the joy of music with others!
